South Norwood Comedy Festival: Hunt & Murphy

Tue 26 Jun

BOOK TICKETS

Sketch Comedy Duo Richard Hunt & Abbie Murphy.

In 2012 Hunt & Murphy started writing and performing their comedy together for the sheer fun of it. After high praise from friends and colleagues over their low key YouTube channel, they took to the stage on the London comedy circuit to hone their live skills as a duo.

Both Hunt & Murphy have a penchant for eccentric characters, from 80’s naff naff to Victorian macabre. A 1990s Essex upbringing might be to blame… both from rural villages with nothing to do but make believe their imaginations ran riot, and thankfully have continued to.

Abbie is all of 5ft 3, and Ricky a statuesque 6ft 5 – it’s already a laugh to look at! Both being professionally trained dancers, physical comedy is a strong theme. Their sense of humour and style has been honed throughout 15 years of friendship. Having met as young teens at professional dance school, and continuing on to successful performing careers, has seen them travel the world together. It is the basis for their strong connection in sense of humour, timing, and trust on stage (and in life) making them an established, comfortable and natural fit.

Hunt & Murphy will be debuting their first live comedy show at The Edinburgh Fringe 2018. Catch them live at Stanley Halls as part of the South Norwood Community Festival, in association with Leave ’em Laughing.

South Norwood Comedy Festival: Bennett Arron

Wed 27 Jun

BOOK TICKETS

Bennett Arron is the only Jewish/Welsh Comedian on the Circuit.

His humour is a cross between the paranoid angst of Max Boyce and the colloquial valley humour of Woody Allen.

As well as performing all around the country, Bennett Arron has also entertained audiences in The United Arab Emirates, Rome, Spain and Germany.

Aside from comedy, as a victim of identity fraud, Bennett directed and presented the programme ‘How Not To Lose Your Identity’ for Channel 4.

In the programme, which was described as “Fascinating and Slightly Disturbing” by the TV Times, Bennett managed to steal the identity of the former Home Secretary Charles Clarke.

South Norwood Comedy Festival: Gareth Cooper & Sara Barron

Thu 28 Jun

Catch Gareth Cooper and Sara Barron live at Stanley Halls this June as part of the South Norwood Community Festival, in association with Leave ’em Laughing.
Gareth Cooper

Gareth does comedy. Quite a bit of it. He wrote and performed in the award-winning & critically-acclaimed sketch group, Delete the Banjax, and now spends his time gigging his own special brand of musical comedy with a bit of stand-up and poetry thrown in for good measure. In 2015, he took his debut solo comedy show, Mishmash, up to Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in 2016 he won an award from the International Songwriting Competition (Comedy category) for his track, Dead With You. In August 2017, he took his second solo comedy show, Nerd Rock, to Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of PBH’s Free Fringe. He also performs as part of Small Laces, a new comedy band for kids.
